Challenge
Post the success of the relaunch Big Ben® had been exploring the boundaries of social media. It was a general election year for New Zealand and Donald Trump was campaign to make America great again. The opportunity to get Big Ben's cowboy into politics was just to tempting to pass up.
Solution
Big Ben® created a new role, the minister of pies, which he then proceeded to run for. Voting for Big Ben® as your next pie-minister's will ensure we make pies great again and tackle the big issues like eradicating soggy pastry and raising the standard of meat quality.
Activation
To make the campaign as authentic as possible we built a political party style website, put hoardings up amongst real political party hoardings and ran a very heavy weight social media campaign.
Results
• We didn't get any votes - which was probably a good thing.
• Big Ben's hoardings only lasted 5 days before council told us to take them down.
• News outlets picked up the activity and amplified our important message for us.
